1950s Knox New York Black Size 7 Fedora fur Felt Hat Circumference 21 5/8 " Last pic is an ad for Brand， not this exact hat and is for informational purposes. It has a 2-1/4" brim and 5-1/4" open crown (4-3/4" as creased). The crown is wrapped in a 1-3/4" black colored grosgrain ribbon and the brim is bound in felt color matching 5/8" grosgrain. The hat shows little wear. The felt is in good shape with no staining， flaws or moth nips. The back top of the crown could stand some steam and blocking. The felt has a nice hand and shapes easily. The sweat band is supple and the debossings still shine. I am estimating the 1950s date of manufacture based on the logo style debossed in the sweatband for the store. By the middle of the century， Knox Hats were sold all over America and manufactured in Knoxs Brooklyn factory the largest hat factory in the world. This was the golden age of the top hat and Knox could name many famous Americans as his customers. 23 US Presidents wore Knox hats including Abraham Lincolns famous Stovepipe hat. Lincoln famously kept important papers in his Knox Stovepipe. Please check my other hat auctions. I will combine shipping， but more hats could increase the box size and the shipping rate.
